Cyprus home energy grants: what changed in October 2026
Status checked 27 October 2026: Save–Upgrade Houses closed after oversubscription. Understand the limited reserve exception and plan solar without assuming a grant.

The short answer
As of 27 October, the 2026 Save–Upgrade Houses call is not open to new applications. The Ministry announced closure on 21 October; the 22 October exception concerns 166 already-created applications, not a general reopening.
A September article is no longer the current status
Search results can show a scheme as “announced” long after its position has changed. For a grant decision, the date of the official notice matters more than a current year in a headline. This guide was checked on 27 October 2026.
The Ministry's 30 September invitation scheduled applications from 20 October, subject to available funding. On 21 October the Ministry announced that submissions had ended because the budget was oversubscribed. An older article saying the scheme had not opened should therefore not be used to plan a new application.
What the reserve-list announcement means
The notice dated 22 October allows 166 applicants who had already created applications to complete submission under a specific process. It explicitly says this does not reopen the scheme to new applications. Those reserve applications do not automatically secure funding or approval.
If you are in that group, follow the Ministry's direct instructions and retain your application reference. If you have not created an application, do not pay a contractor on the assumption that the exception makes a new one eligible.
A maximum grant is not a solar discount
The published call describes a whole-home energy upgrade, not an automatic payment for installing panels. It sets maximum amounts of €32,000 for Type A and €24,000 for Type B, with a primary-energy saving target of at least 60%. The guide controls eligible expenditure and the required energy-performance assessment.
A headline ceiling is not your approved amount. Ask the relevant professional to connect each proposed measure to the actual rules, rather than subtracting the maximum from the price of a solar system.
Keep two budgets
- A project budget that works without an unapproved subsidy.
- A separate funding scenario using only confirmed eligible measures and an identified application.
Keep itemised proposals, invoices, photographs and the assessment documents in one folder. Record which costs belong to panels, storage, electrical works and other building improvements. Ask who supplies each document and when it must exist.
Before committing to work
Recheck official notices, eligibility, timing and any individual correspondence. Confirm what happens commercially if an application is rejected or receives less support than expected. Grant availability does not replace permission to connect a solar system.
UNLIMITED can prepare the solar-and-storage specification for your property. Our preliminary calculator excludes assumed grants, so its starting point does not depend on this call reopening. This status is dated information; a later official notice may change it.
