CHOOSING AN INSTALLER
How to compare solar installation quotes in Cyprus
A practical checklist for equipment, roof design, permissions, financial assumptions and after-installation support.

The short answer
Compare the same scope: named equipment, installation work, connection responsibilities, warranties and financial assumptions. A lower total price is meaningful only when you understand what is included and what is excluded.
Ask for a named equipment list
Check the exact panel model and quantity, total power, inverter model, battery model and usable capacity where applicable. Confirm the mounting system and any additional electrical work. A brand logo is not a complete specification.
Check the roof-specific design
Ask how shading, orientation, roof condition and equipment placement were assessed. A generation estimate should state its assumptions and losses. Photographs, a layout and a site assessment are more informative than an annual savings figure on its own.
Make the commercial scope explicit
Does the total include installation, electrical work, monitoring setup, applicable taxes and the agreed connection work? Which items can change after the site assessment? Ask who handles each application and which approvals must be in place. Confirm the applicable terms with the relevant authority rather than relying on a general website statement.
Understand the savings model
Bring six two-month bills. Check the assumed import price, export value, annual generation and self-consumption. Separate reduced electricity purchases from export credits. Check whether fixed fees remain and whether financing, maintenance, degradation or replacement are included.
A simple payback estimate is useful for comparison but is not a guarantee. Two offers can show different payback periods simply because their assumptions differ. Ask the providers to explain the differences on the same consumption profile.
Look beyond the handover
Separate manufacturer warranties from the installation warranty. Ask who is the contact for faults, what monitoring is included and what happens if equipment needs service. Get the terms in writing.
A short checklist before deciding
- Named components, quantities and system layout.
- Clear included and excluded works.
- Responsibilities for approvals and connection.
- Transparent consumption and financial assumptions.
- Written warranties and after-installation support terms.
For a meaningful discussion, send Unlimited your bills and the goals for the property. The next step should be a proposal that makes these details clear.
